The New Middle Class Consumption in Brazil


Last tuesday, Serasa Experian has released a study on the ammount of money spent by the classes C, D and E in 2013.

The survey took one year to be completed. According to Serasa, the class C will consume in 2014:

  • 8,5 million Domestic Flights ( You have to take in consideration that several are travelling for their very first time in their lives)
  • 7,8 million notebooks
  • 4,5 million tablets
  • 3,9 million smartphones
  • 3,2 million international Flights ( You have to take in consideration that several people are doing their very first international trip in their lives)

 The New Middle Class in Numbers

Yet according to the survey the Brazilian middle class is comprised by roughly 108 million people. In 2013 they consumed 1,17 Trillion BRL and this ammount is correspondent to 58% of the total Brazilian credit.

How and where is the new middle class concentraded?

The new middle class is concentrated all over Brazil. Today the middle class represents 54% of the Brazilian population and surveys forecast that by 2023, 58% of the Brazilian population  will be part of the middle class.Just so you can have an idea in 2003 theclass C represented 38% of the population.

Southeast 43%

Northeast 26%

South 15%

Central West 8%

North 8%
